A photograph is a lovely starting point. The way you want to feel is an even better one.

For a hair consultation, bring a few inspiration photos, your color and treatment history, and a sense of your budget and daily routine. Before booking, agree on the proposed service, price, timing and maintenance with your artist.

Browse our hair services or contact the salon for help finding your starting point. You do not need every answer before you arrive.

Bring an idea, not a perfect answer

You do not need to arrive knowing the name of a technique or the exact shade you want. Start with what you notice: your hair feels heavy, your color feels flat, you want more movement, or you are ready for something different. Clear, ordinary language gives your artist somewhere useful to begin.

A few inspiration photographs can help. Choose images that show what you like from different angles, and include one that feels close to your everyday style. You can also bring an example of a result you do not want. Knowing the boundaries is part of understanding the brief.

Talk about your everyday hair

The salon finish is only one part of a haircut or color. Tell your artist whether you air-dry, use hot tools, tie your hair up for work or spend most weekends outside. Be honest about how much styling you want to do. A routine you enjoy is more useful than an elaborate one you will never follow.

Share your recent color and treatment history, too. Even a service from some time ago may be relevant to the lengths that are still there. Your artist needs that context to discuss realistic options and whether your goal will take more than one visit.

Leave with a shared plan

Before a service begins, ask about the proposed approach, the time it may take and the cost. If anything is unclear, this is the moment to say so. A good consultation should leave room for questions.

At Rové, independent artists bring individual approaches to their work. If you are unsure where to start, contact the salon and tell us what you have in mind. We can help you take the next step toward the right conversation.

Make it personal. Talk through the possibilities with your artist.
